Enforcement

MUR 8079

COMPLAINANT: Nate Adams, Campaign Manager, Lisa Murkowski for US Senate
RESPONDENT: Kelly for Alaska and Randy Ruedrich, in his official capacity as treasurer (the Committee); and Gray Media Group, Inc. (Gray)
SUBJECT: The complaint alleged that the Committee posted campaign yard signs without a required printed box around the disclaimer language. The complaint alleged further that Gray made and the Committee may have received an in-kind corporate contribution when Gray allowed the Committee to buy airtime for a video ad aired on its television stations at a lower cost than allowed under the Communications Act. Kelly Tshibaka was a 2022 candidate for Alaska’s U.S. Senate seat.
DISPOSITION: The Commission exercised its prosecutorial discretion and dismissed the matter.

MUR 8114

COMPLAINANT: Kelly Wiggen
RESPONDENT: Education First Alliance PAC and Deirdre Clare Morrison, in her official capacity as treasurer (the Committee); Jennifer Sloan Rachmuth; and J. Patrick Gavaghan
SUBJECT: The complaint alleged that the Committee permitted the personal use of campaign funds, allowed the Committee’s Designed Agent Sloan Rachmuth to commingle Committee funds with personal funds, failed to include a proper disclaimer on a fundraising solicitation, inaccurately reported receipts, disbursements, and cash-on-hand balances, and accepted and failed to refund an excessive contribution from Gavaghan.
DISPOSITION: The Commission dismissed the allegations concerning the conversion of campaign funds to personal use and the commingling of funds. The Commission exercised its prosecutorial discretion and dismissed the remaining allegations.

Litigation

DCCC v. FEC (Case No. 24-2935) On October 17, Plaintiff filed a Motion for a Preliminary Injunction in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. On October 24, the Commission filed an Opposition to Plaintiff’s Motion for Preliminary Injunction and Intervenor-Defendant NRSC filed a Memorandum of Points and Authorities in Opposition to Plaintiff’s Motion for a Preliminary Injunction.

On October 23, Commissioner Allen Dickerson participated in the Dalton School’s civic education symposium in New York, NY.

Election Dates. The Commission has posted 2024 Presidential and Congressional Primary Dates, which are subject to change.

Contribution Limits. In addition to the current limits, the Commission has posted an archive of contribution limits that were in effect going back to the 1975-1976 election cycles.

The Presidential Election Campaign Fund Tax Checkoff Chart provides information on balance of the Fund, monthly deposits into the Fund reported by the Department of the Treasury, payments from the Fund as certified by the FEC, and participation rates of taxpayers as reported by the Internal Revenue Service. Other election-related resources

Videos on protecting U.S. elections. The FBI’s Protected Voices initiative provides videos designed to help political campaigns protect themselves from foreign influence. The 2019 videos offer guidance on ransomware, business email compromise, supply chain, social media literacy, and foreign influence operations. Other videos, released in 2018, include cyber hygiene topics such as social engineering, patching, router hardening, and app and browser safety.
