2020 primary candidate committees
Monthly filers
Committees that have been filing on a monthly basis in 2020, but whose candidates are not participating in the general election, have a choice between filing either the Pre- and Post-General Reports (see preceding chart) or monthly reports covering October and November (due November 20 and December 20, respectively).
Quarterly filers
Committees of candidates not participating in the general election need not file the Pre- and Post-General Reports. These committees, however, must continue filing on a quarterly basis.
Candidate committees not active in 2020 elections
Committees only active in past or future elections do not file the Pre- and Post-General Reports. These committees continue to file according to their regular reporting schedule (monthly or quarterly).

Note for committees not required to file a Post-General Report (chart II):
For candidates who ran in 2020 but did not participate in the general election, the reporting period for the Year-End Report spans two election cycles. For this report only, committees should instead use the Post-Election Detailed Summary Page (Form 3P, Pages 5-8). Committees should not use the normal Detailed Summary Page.
FOOTNOTES:
[1] These dates indicate the beginning and end of the reporting period. A reporting period always begins the day after the closing date of the last report filed. If the committee is new and has not previously filed a report, the first report must cover all activity that occurred before the committee registered up through the close of books for the first report due.
[2] Committees not required to file on a monthly schedule during 2020, and whose candidates are not participating in the general election, need not file the Pre- and Post-General Reports. These committees, however, must continue to file on a quarterly basis.
[3] Notice that this filing deadline falls on a weekend or federal holiday. Filing deadlines are not extended when they fall on nonworking days. Accordingly, reports filed by methods other than registered, certified or overnight mail must be received before the Commission's close of business on the last business day before the deadline. Read supplemental filing information.
