Using Campaign Funds to Pay Security Expenses
Federal candidates and officeholders may use campaign funds to pay for security measures to address ongoing dangers or threats that would not exist irrespective of the individual’s status or duties as a federal candidate or officeholder. The candidate or officeholder need not demonstrate threats made against them in order to use their campaign funds to pay these expenses. For more information, please consult our summary of the rules on the use of campaign funds for candidate and officeholder security and the associated Federal Register notice.
