Understanding individual contributions to federal candidates and committees

The Commission frequently receives questions about the basic rules governing individual contributions to federal candidates and other political committees, including:

  • How much can I contribute to a federal candidate?
  • Does the federal government contractor prohibition apply to me?
  • Will my personal information be disclosed on FEC.gov?
  • Are contributions from minors permissible?
