Special Election Get-Out-the-Vote Activity by Party Committees

September 10, 2013

. Party committees conducting GOTV activity in conjunction with federal special elections now should be aware that such activity is considered to be federal election activity (FEA) under the Act. As such, it must be paid for with federal funds or with an allocation between federal and Levin (or Levin-eligible) funds. Engaging in reportable FEA will trigger monthly filing requirements for the committee. For more information, see this Record news article on FEA, the FEC's brochure on local party activity and Chapter 8 of the Campaign Guide for Political Party Committees.
