September’s Special Election in IL May Affect Your August Reporting

August 3, 2015

Candidates involved in the September 10 special general election in Illinois’ 18th Congressional district must file a pre-general report due August 29 that covers financial activity from July 1 through August 21, and a post-general report, due October 10, that covers August 22 through September 30. Based on the timing of the post-general, the October Quarterly is waived for those campaigns.

PACs and parties that file on a semi-annual basis in 2015 and that have made previously undisclosed contributions or expenditures in connection with the special election must file the appropriate pre- and post-election reports too. (Monthly filers, however, do not need to file special election reports.) For more information, see the FEC's Compliance Map and click on Illinois and any other state(s) where your PAC or party has been active in a special election.
