PRELIMINARY LIST OF 2000 PRIMARY DATES PUBLISHED

WASHINGTON – A preliminary listing of 2000 presidential and congressional primary and caucus dates has been compiled by the Federal Election Commission’s Public Records Office.

Information was obtained from data supplied by state election officials and news articles, and is current through August 24, 1999. The dates listed are tentative and subject to change by state legislatures. The list will be updated as new information is received.

The following pages list the primary and caucus dates first in alphabetical order and then in chronological order. The list can also be found on the FEC’s Web site via the link "About Elections and Voting," and can be obtained from FEC’s FAXLINE (202-501-3413) as document #650.
