Next Month's Special Elections in NY and MS May Affect Your April Reporting

April 6, 2015

Candidates involved in the May 5 special general election in New York's 11th Congressional district must file a pre-general report due April 23 that covers financial activity from January 1 through April 15. Based on the timing of this report, the Commission has waived the regular April Quarterly for candidates in the NY/11 special election. In contrast, candidates involved in the May 12 special general election in Mississippi's 1st Congressional district must file both the April Quarterly due April 15, and a pre-general report, due April 30, covering financial activity from April 1 through April 22.

PACs and parties that file on a semi-annual basis in 2015 and that have made previously undisclosed contributions or expenditures in connection with a special election must file the reports due in connection with that election. (Monthly filers, however, do not need to file special election reports.) For more information, see the FEC's Compliance Map and click on the state(s) where your PAC or party has been active in a special election.
