FEC OPEN MEETING THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 14 |
---|
The Federal Election Commission will meet in open session at 10 a.m. on Thursday September 14, 2006. The Commission will consider an Advisory Opinion request from Wallace for Congress regarding whether the value of pro bono legal services related to candidate selection in Texas’ 22nd district would be considered a contribution under the Federal Election Campaign Act. The AO request can be found at http://www.fec.gov/aos/2006/aor2006-22.pdf, along with any comments received prior to the meeting. The draft advisory opinion response to be considered by the Commission can be found at http://www.fec.gov/agenda/2006/mtgdoc06-60.pdf.
The FEC will also consider draft Final Rules, along with an Explanation and Justification, implementing an increase in the contribution limit for Authorized Committees (i.e., candidates’ campaign committees) contributing to the Authorized Committees of other candidates. A provision in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2005 increased the limit from $1,000 to $2,000 per election, and the draft Final Rule implements the statutory change. The agenda document the Commission will consider can be found at http://www.fec.gov/agenda/2006/mtgdoc06-59.pdf.
The meeting will be held at 10 a.m. in the 9th floor hearing room at the Commission’s offices at 999 E Street N.W. in Washington.
