FEC Statement on Campaign Finance Provisions of the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act, 2015 (H.R. 83)

WASHINGTON – President Obama signed into law the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act, 2015 (H.R. 83) last night. Provisions of this law provide for the establishment of new accounts with increased contribution limits for national political party committees.

The Commission is reviewing these new provisions and assessing their impact on existing regulations. The Commission will provide guidance to the public as soon as practicable.

The Federal Election Commission (FEC) is an independent regulatory agency that administers and enforces federal campaign finance laws. The FEC has jurisdiction over the financing of campaigns for the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, the Presidency and the Vice Presidency. Established in 1975, the FEC is composed of six Commissioners who are nominated by the President and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
