FEC EXTENDS COMMENT DEADLINE ON AOR 2006-19 (LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEMOCRATIC CENTRAL COMMITTEE)

Washington – The Advisory Opinion Request the Commission received from the Los Angeles County Democratic Party Central Committee (“LACDP”) on May 10, 2006 and the draft advisory opinion proposed by the Commission’s Office of the General Counsel (“OGC”) have generated much interest.  The Commission would like to give all those interested in commenting on LACDP’s request and OGC’s draft advisory opinion an opportunity to do so.  However, the Commission is mindful of the time-sensitive nature of LACDP’s request, given that the activity in question relates to elections scheduled to be held on June 6.  In order to provide more time for submitting comments while maintaining the ability to issue an advisory opinion to LACDP expeditiously, the Commission has decided to extend the comment deadline on the request for 24 hours.  Accordingly, all comments on the request and the draft advisory opinion must be received by the Commission no later than noon on Wednesday, May 24, 2006.  The Commission will hold an open meeting to discuss AO 2006-19 at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2006.

The draft advisory opinion is available here.
