Do I have to file a Pre-General Report?

October 17, 2016

If you are a monthly filer or an authorized committee of a candidate in the 2016 general election, the answer is automatically YES. (Please note that monthly-filing PACs/party committees also must file their regular monthly report covering September on Thursday, October 20.) If you are a quarterly-filing PAC or party committee, you must file a pre-general report only if your committee made contributions or expenditures in connection with the general election between October 1 and October 19, 2016. The Pre-General report is due Thursday, October 27. If sent by registered or certified mail, the Pre-General must be postmarked on or before October 24. If using overnight mail, the delivery service must receive the report on or before October 24. For additional help with your October reports, please consult the sources listed in last week’s tip.
