Disclosing the purposes of disbursements

When disclosing expenditures on FEC reports, committees must ensure the purpose of the disbursement, coupled with the identity of the payee, is sufficiently specific that the reader could easily discern why the expenditure was made. In order to help committees comply with this requirement, the Reports Analysis Division has posted examples of adequate purpose descriptions.
