COMMISSION MEETINGS AND HEARINGS
No Commission executive sessions or open meetings were scheduled this week.
ADVISORY OPINIONS AOR 2012-38 (Socialist Workers Party). On November 20, the Commission made public Advisory Opinion Request 2012-38. The Socialist Workers Party (SWP) has, as a result of the threat of harassment and threat of violence, maintained since 1990 an exemption from the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, as amended, (the Act) and Commission regulations requiring reporting to the FEC contributors to the SWP and to the recipients of SWP disbursements The SWP files reports with the Commission containing coded references to contributors and recipients of disbursements, rather than names, addresses and other identifying information. The SWP requests renewal of this exemption. The Commission will accept written comments on the request during the 10-day period following publication of the request (no later than November 30, 2012) and shall issue a response no later than 60 days after receipt of the complete request, specifically by January 8, 2013.
Request for Reconsideration of AOR 2012-25 (American Future Fund). On November 21, the Commission made public a comment on the Request for Reconsideration of Advisory Opinion Request 2012-25. The American Future Fund (AFF) and American Future Fund Political Action (AFFPA) are asking for reconsideration of an Advisory Opinion Request regarding their proposed plan to establish a joint fundraising committee. The Commission previously was unable to reach agreement by the required four affirmative votes to issue an Advisory Opinion.

MUR 6523 LITIGATION
CREW v. FEC (No. 12-5004). On November 21, the U.S. Department of Justice filed a Supplemental Brief in support of the Commission in the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
November 28: The Commission is scheduled to hold an executive session.
December 12: On Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., the Commission will hold a public hearing to discuss several key issues related to its enforcement process, including issues relating to the documents that were released to the public recently. Any general questions and comments related to the documents can be sent to Documents_Feedback@fec.gov.
