COMMISSION MEETINGS AND HEARINGS

On May 20, the Commission held an executive session.

No Commission open meetings were scheduled this week.

LITIGATION

Free Speech v. FEC (Case 13-772). On May 19, the United States Supreme Court issued an Order denying the Plaintiff’s Petition for a Writ of Certiorari.

RNC, et al. v. FEC (Case 1:14-cv-00853). On May 23, the Republican National Committee, Reince Priebus, the Republican Party of Louisiana, the Jefferson Parish Republican Parish Executive Committee, the Orleans Parish Republican Executive Committee, and Roger Villere, Jr. filed a Verified Complaint for Injunctive and Declaratory Relief in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. The complaint challenges provisions of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, as amended, (the Act).

Rufer,et al. v. FEC (Case 1:14-cv-00837-CRC). On May 21, Chris Rufer, the Libertarian Party of Indiana and the Libertarian National Congressional Committee Inc. filed a Verified Complaint for Injunctive and Declaratory Relief in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.  The complaint challenges provisions of the Act. The Verified Complaint was filed concurrently with a Motion for Preliminary Injunction.

EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND E-LEARNING

On May 21, the Commission hosted a Seminar/Webinar for Trade Associations, Labor Organizations, Membership Organizations and their PACs.

On May 19, the Commission posted three instructional videos from the Reports Analysis Division on the E-Learning section of the website. The new videos are: FECfile Introduction, FECfile for Authorized Committees and FECfile for PACs and Party Committees.

The Commission has launched FEC Connect, a new on-line training service that enables political committees and other groups to schedule live, interactive online training sessions with FEC staff. To schedule training, organizations should email speaker@fec.gov.

June 4: FEC Chairman Lee E. Goodman and Vice Chair Ann M. The FEC Annual Reports from 1975-2006 are now available on the website. Beginning in 2007, the Commission consolidated its Annual Report with its Performance and Accountability Report (PAR) to provide a single account of the agency''''s activities for each fiscal year.
