COMMISSION MEETINGS

ADVISORY OPINIONS

Comment Received

AOR 2010-07 (Yes on FAIR).  On May 10, the Commission received a late comment on AOR 2010-07 (Yes on FAIR). The requester, a California state ballot measure committee, asks whether and how Members of Congress may solicit donations to it (i) during the period before the measure qualifies for the November 2010 general election ballot, and (ii) during the post-qualification period leading up to the date of the general election. The Commission must issue a response no later than 60 days after receipt of the complete request, that is, by June 14, 2010.

ENFORCEMENT

The Commission made public one closed case this week. For more information, see the case documents in the Enforcement Query System.

MUR 6228 – Fannie Lou Hamer Federal Political Action Committee and Edwin K. Washington, in his official capacity as treasurer. The Commission issued a caution letter and decided to take no further action

ADMINISTRATIVE FINES

The Commission made public one campaign finance enforcement matter that was resolved through its Administrative Fines (AF) program. For more information, see the case documents in the Enforcement Query System.

AF 1951 – Citizens for Harkin and Theresa L. Kehoe as Treasurer. The Commission made a final determination to terminate the proceedings and close the file.

DISCLOSURE

On May 11, the Commission introduced a new Candidate Disbursements feature on its website, which provides downloads of itemized disbursements reported by U.S. House and Senate candidate committees for the 2010 election cycle.
