Commission meetings and hearings
- On March 15, the Commission held an executive session.
- The open meeting and an executive session scheduled for March 16 were canceled due to the closure of the Metrorail system.
Advisory opinions
Request received
Advisory Opinion Request 2016-03 (Holding for Congress)
On March 18, the Commission made public Advisory Opinion Request 2016-03. Requestor asks whether Representative Holding may raise additional contributions subject to a new contribution limit during a campaign with multiple primary dates. The Commission must issue a response no later than 60 days after the receipt of the complete request, that is, by May 16, 2016.
Litigation
- Levinthal, et al v. FEC (Case 1:15-cv-01148-JEB). On March 11, the Plaintiffs filed a Cross-Motion for Summary Judgment and Opposition to Commission's Motion for Summary Judgment in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
- Republican Party of Louisiana, et al. v. FEC (Case 1:15-cv-1241). On March 15, the Commission filed its Motion to Dissolve Three-Judge Court with Instructions to Dismiss or, Alternatively, to Dismiss Action in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.

Outreach
- On March 17, Commissioner Ellen L. Weintraub gave opening remarks at the premiere of a film entitled "Power in Our Pockets: Social Media, Money & Politics in the Digital Age," part of the Money and Politics campaign of International IDEA, in Washington, D.C.
- On Friday, March 18, Commissioner Ann M. Ravel discussed campaign finance on a panel at the VI Ibero-American Conference in Brasilia, Brazil.
