COMMISSION MEETINGS AND HEARINGS

ENFORCEMENT

COMPLAINANT: Scott Randolph
RESPONDENTS: William Todd Long; Todd Long for Congress (2010) and Rosa Alvarez, in her official capacity as treasurer; and Long, William Todd (f/k/a Todd Long for U.S. Congress (2012) and Todd Long, in his official capacity as treasurer
SUBJECT: The complaint alleged that Long, Todd Long for Congress (2010) and Alvarez, in her official capacity as treasurer, as well as Long, William Todd (f/k/a Todd Long for U.S. Congress (2012) and Todd Long, in his official capacity as treasurer, converted campaign funds to personal use by spending campaign funds on the purchase and distribution of copies of a book authored by Long. Long was a 2008 and 2010 candidate for Florida’s 8th Congressional District and a 2012 candidate for Florida’s 9th Congressional District.
DISPOSITION: The Commission dismissed the matter in light of the circumstances and in consideration of Commission priorities.

ADMINISTRATIVE FINES

The Commission made public three campaign finance enforcement matters that were resolved through its Administrative Fines (AF) program, as follows. For more information, see the case documents in the Enforcement Query System.

AF 2620 – John Hernandez for Congress 2012 and Karen Hernandez, in her official capacity as treasurer. The Commission made a final determination and assessed a civil penalty of $505.

AF 2717 – John Hernandez for Congress 2012 and Karen Hernandez, in her official capacity as treasurer. The Commission made a final determination and assessed a civil penalty of $250.

AF 2761 – Polish American Leadership Political Action Committee and Janine Pawlus, in her official capacity as treasurer. The Commission made a final determination and assessed a civil penalty of $4,950.

OUTREACH

On March 11, Chairman Lee E. Goodman discussed the role of the Commission with a group of civic, political, and media leaders from Venezuela as part of the State Department''''s International Visitor Leadership Program.
