COMMISSION MEETINGS AND HEARINGS
No Commission open meetings or executive sessions were scheduled this week.
ADVISORY OPINIONS
AO 2012-39 (Green Party of Virginia). On January 24, the Commission made public a draft of Advisory Opinion 2012-39. The Green Party of Virginia, a political committee that is registered with and reports to the Commission, asks to be recognized as the State committee of a political party, the Green Party of the United States. Comments on the draft are due by noon on January 30. AOR 2012-25 (American Future Fund and American Future Fund Political Action). On January 24, the Commission made public a letter informing the requestors that no further action is being taken on their request. On October 12, 2012, the Commission concluded its consideration of Advisory Opinion Request 2012-25 without issuing an advisory opinion. On October 15, 2012, the requestors asked the Commission to reconsider this matter. Advisory Opinion Request 2012-25 was submitted by American Future Fund and American Future Fund Political Action. They asked whether they may establish a joint fundraising committee.

ADMINISTRATIVE FINES
The Commission made public two campaign finance enforcement matters that were resolved through its Administrative Fines (AF) program.
AF 2528 – Wes Riddle for US Congress and Daniel Leon Lunsford II, in his official capacity as treasurer. The Commission made a final determination and assessed a civil penalty of $4,400.
AF 2543 – Friends of Chris Garner and Barbara S. Small, in her official capacity as treasurer. The Commission made a final determination and assessed no civil penalty.

LITIGATION
Vroom v. FEC (Case 1:12-cv-0143-RMC). On January 24, the Commission filed its Motion to Dismiss Amended Complaint in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
On January 23, the Commission hosted Webinars on “2012 Year-end Reporting and Electronic Filing for Candidate Committees.”
