COMMISSION MEETINGS

No Commission Executive Sessions or Open Meetings were scheduled this week.

ADVISORY OPINIONS

Request Received

AOR 2011-04 (American Israel Public Affairs Committee). On February 25, the Commission made public Advisory Opinion Request 2011-04. The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) asks whether it can post candidate position papers on a website accessible only to AIPAC members. The Commission must issue a response no later than 60 days after the receipt of the complete request, that is, by April 26, 2011.

AUDITS

On February 22, the Commission made public the Final Audit Report for the Tennessee Republican Party.

LITIGATION

Cao v. FEC (No. 10-776). On February 17, the Petitioners filed a reply brief in the Supreme Court of the United States.

Ralph Nader v. FEC  (Civ. No. 10-989 (BAH)). On February 23, the Commission filed a Motion and Memorandum in Support of its Motion for Summary Judgment in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. The motion and memo were filed in opposition to the plaintiff’s motion for summary judgment.

OUTREACH

On February 23, 2011, Chair Cynthia L. Bauerly, Vice Chair Caroline C. Hunter, and Commissioners Matthew S. Petersen and Ellen L. Weintraub met with Chief Election Commissioner S.Y. Quraishi of the Indian Election Commission to discuss shared goals with respect to strengthening democratic institutions and maintaining the integrity of the democratic process.
