Advisory opinions

Extension of time received

Advisory Opinion Request 2015-14 (Hillary for America II)

On January 27, the Commission received an Extension of Time until February 16 on Advisory Opinion Request 2015-14. Hillary for America asks whether it would receive a prohibited corporate contribution if a summer student intern for the campaign accepts credit for the internship or a stipend from her university, a 501(c)(3) corporation.

  • COMPLAINANT: FEC-Initiated
  • RESPONDENTS: Warriors for Liberty and Kieran Lalor, in his official capacity as treasurer
  • SUBJECT: In the normal course of exercising its supervisory responsibilities, the Commission initiated proceedings to determine whether Warriors for Liberty and Lalor, in his official capacity as treasurer (the Committee), failed to accurately disclose receipts, disbursements and debts on its original 2013 Year-End Report.
  • DISPOSITION: The Commission entered into a conciliation agreement providing for the Committee to pay a civil penalty of $7,150.

  • On February 5, Commissioner Ann M. Ravel was the keynote speaker at Stanford Law Review's 2016 symposium on the law of democracy in Stanford, California.
