Use of contributor information

The Federal Election Campaign Act requires committees to make their best efforts to obtain and disclose individual contributor information. To protect the privacy of individual contributors, the Act prohibits the sale or use of any information copied or obtained from FEC reports or statements—including contributor names and addresses—to solicit contributions or for commercial purposes.
