New address for disgorged contributions
Political committees are prohibited from knowingly accepting contributions from prohibited sources. If a committee deposits a contribution that appears to be legal and later discovers that it is prohibited, the committee must disgorge the contribution—by refunding it to the contributor or by sending it to the U.S. Department of the Treasury—within 30 days of making the discovery.
Please note that the Department of the Treasury has a new address for these disgorged contributions:
Department of the Treasury
Bureau of the Fiscal Service
PO Box 1328
Parkersburg, WV 26106-1328
Attn: Agency Cash Branch, Avery 3G
Include a letter explaining that the funds represent potential violations of the Federal Election Campaign Act and request that the funds be placed in the Treasury’s “general fund account.”
