SCHEDULE SET FOR PUBLIC HEARING ON THE INTERNET |
||
WASHINGTON – The Federal Election Commission will conduct a public hearing on Tuesday, June 28, and Wednesday, June 29. The schedule has been set for the public hearing and can be found at http://www.fec.gov/pdf/nprm/internet_comm/hearing_schedule.shtml. The FEC proposes to define paid Internet ads as "public communications." The proposed addition of paid Internet ads to the definition of public communication would affect all other FEC rules that incorporate the term "public communication." The FEC also proposes to specifically exempt certain volunteer activity and certain media activity on the Internet from the definitions of "contribution" and "expenditure."
