McCutcheon decision (2014)

April 8, 2014

On April 2, the U.S. Supreme Court issued its decision in McCutcheon v. FEC. The plurality opinion concludes that the overall biennial contribution limits at 2 U.S.C. § 441a(a)(3) are unconstitutional under the First Amendment. The Court's decision does not affect an individual's per-committee limits found at 2 U.S.C. § 441a(a)(1).
