Indexed Contribution Limits for 2008 Election Cycle Coming Soon

January 18, 2007

The Commission has received numerous inquiries concerning the anticipated increase in the contribution limits that are adjusted for inflation in odd-numbered years.  Those limits include the per-election cap on contributions from individuals to candidates, the calendar-year limit on contributions from individuals to national party committees and the overall ceiling for contributions by an individual during an election cycle. The Commission expects to receive the necessary Consumer Price Index (CPI) figure from the Department of Labor soon.  Although the FEC will announce the new limits officially through a Federal Register notice, we will post the new limits here as soon as they are available.
