District Court issues memorandum opinion, order in Campaign Legal Center, et al. v. FEC (Case No. 22-3319)

September 23, 2024

WASHINGTON – The U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia today issued a Memorandum Opinion and Order in Campaign Legal Center, et al. v. FEC (Case No. 22-3319), ordering that the complaint and the case be dismissed.

Plaintiffs had challenged the Commission’s 2022 dismissal of an administrative complaint they filed with the agency alleging violations of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971, as amended (the Act).

The Federal Election Commission (FEC) is an independent regulatory agency that administers and enforces federal campaign finance laws. The FEC has jurisdiction over the financing of campaigns for the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, the Presidency and the Vice Presidency. Established in 1975, the FEC is composed of six Commissioners who are nominated by the President and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
