Cut-off date for July reports
Committees often ask if they may include funds raised in June but received in July in their FEC reports that are due in July. Under Commission regulations, the date of receipt is used for reporting purposes, so committees may include only those contributions received by June 30, 2016, on their July Quarterly or Monthly reports. Contributions received on July 1 or afterwards must be reported on the committee's next report, even if the check was dated or postmarked in June. For more information, see page 23 of the Campaign Guide for Congressional Candidates and this March tip for treasurers. (As always, committees involved in a special election should follow the reporting schedule for that election.)
