On August 10, 2023, the Commission considered an advisory opinion request from Alamo PAC, the leadership PAC of U.S. Senator John Cornyn. The request asked whether the PAC may establish a separate account with its own contribution limit solely for the purpose of making independent expenditures. The Commission considered three draft advisory opinions but did not approve any of the drafts by the required four affirmative votes. The Commission concluded its consideration of the request without issuing an advisory opinion.
