AO 2007-35: Internet toolbar affinity program for political committees

The Commission released for public comment, but did not approve, a draft advisory opinion concerning an affinity program between a corporation and political committees to provide Internet toolbars. The two members of the Commission discussed the draft advisory opinion and voted 2-0 in favor of a motion to approve the draft. The Commission was unable to render an opinion in this matter, as approval of an advisory opinion requires the affirmative vote of four members of the Commission.
