Form 7 communication example

When any corporation, labor organization, trade association or incorporated membership organization pays for express advocacy communications (communications expressly advocating the election or defeat of a clearly identified federal candidate) to its restricted class, the corporation, labor organization, trade association or incorporated membership organization must report the payments on Form 7 once the payments exceed $2,000 for any election (primary or general). The payments are not considered contributions or expenditures but instead are reported as “Communications Costs.”
Disclaimers are not required when a corporation, labor organization, trade association or incorporated membership organization or its SSF sends an express advocacy communication to its restricted class.
