SUBJECT: Disclaimer; Reporting

DISPOSITION: The Commission decided by a vote of 6 - 0 to take the following actions in MUR 6163 1.Find no reason to believe the Houghton County Democratic Committee violated 2 U.S.C. §§ 433 or 434 by failing to register and report as a political committee. 2. Dismiss the complaint as to the allegations that the Houghton County Democratic Committee violated 2 U.S.C. §§ 434(c) and 441d. 3. Approve the appropriate version of the Factual and Legal Analysis, subject to the revisions previously circulated and pursuant to the meeting discussion, including the following revisions: a) Change the second instance of the phrase "slate cards" to the phrase "candidate lists" in Footnote #2, Page 4. b) On Page 5, at the end of the first paragraph, include a footnote with the appropriate explanation related to 2 U.S.C. §§ 100.22(b) and 100.22(a), c) On Pages 2 and 10, reinsert language with respect to the cautionary notification to the respondents.d) Make any necessary technical and conforming amendments. 4. Approve the appropriate letter. 5. Close the file.
