SUBJECT: Contributions-Prohibited; Contributions-Excessive; Other; Reporting

DISPOSITION: The Commission failed by a vote of 2 - 3 to pass a motion to:a) Find reason to believe that American Leadership Project violated 2 U.S.C. ยงยง 433, 434, 441b, and 441a(f), by failing to register as a political committee with the Commission; by failing to report its contributions and expenditures; by knowingly accepting contributions in excess of $5,000; and by knowingly accepting prohibited contributions.b) Approve the Factual and Legal Analysis, as recommended in the First General Counsel?s Report dated April 16, 2009.c) Authorize the use of compulsory process in this matter, including the issuance of interrogatories, document subpoenas, deposition subpoenas and orders.d) Approve the appropriate letters.
The Commission decided by a vote of 5 - 0 to: Close the file in MUR 6094.
