This file is not a transcript of the meeting, and it has not been reviewed for accuracy or approved by the Federal Election Commission. Good afternoon. The open meeting for the Federal Election Commission for June 28, 2018 is now in session. >> Do we have a motion? I approve we approve the minutes for May 24, 2018 as set forth in 18-32-A in the minutes for the meeting of June 7, 2018 as set forth in 18-33-A. The motion passes unanimously. The next is 2018 --09 a request from Mr. Paul Clements who is on the telephone. Mr. Paul Clements? Can you Harris? Hello. This is Paul. How are you? >> We are going to start off with a brief presentation from Mr. Joseph Wenzinger and we may have some questions from you but I don't we do but let's see. Mr. Joseph Wenzinger? >> Agenda document 18 --34 -- a is a draft response submitted by Paul Clements on behalf of his congressional campaign committee. He asked whether the committee can use campaign funds to pay certain legal expenses incurred in seeking the ballot for an upcoming primary election. The driver concludes that they may use funds to pay for legal expenses because those expenses would not exist irrespective of the campaign. Therefore the use of campaign funds would not constitute an impermissible conversion of campaign funds for personal use. We received no comments on the draft and I'm happy to answer any questions you may have. >> Thank you very much. Any commissioners have a question for Mr. Clements? Is there a motion? Madam vice chair? >> I think it is an excellent draft. I think that footnote 3 is unnecessary so I will move the draft without footnote 3 . Having said that, with respect to advisory opinion request 2018 --09 from Clements , a move approval of the answer set forth in agenda document number 18 --34 --letter a with the deletion of footnote 3 . >> All those in favor? The motion passes unanimously. Thank you Mr. Clements. The next item is disposition of open 2014 audits. We don't have a whole lot to talk about here but I wanted to let the public know that we have been discussing these audits in executive session and --will be in contact with the committees very shortly to discuss these issues further. And because they are confidential under the statute we are not able to get into the details. I wanted to let people know we were able to work something out that I think will be an official to the FEC and audit committees. And I think that brings us to the end of our public meeting. We mentioned this earlier and I think it was yesterday -- It has been a long two days of a hearing on our Internet rulemaking but we thanked -- and would like to do so again for all of her hard work and service to the commission. I think today or tomorrow is her last day here. >> My last full day is today. I will be back briefly 108 in July. On July 20. Briefly. And I will be on vacation between now and then. >> Excellent. Will thank you so much for everything. Mr. Palmer, are there any administrative matters? There are no such matters. Thank you very much. The meeting is adjourned. >>> [ event concluded ]
