How to Find FEC Form 2 - Statement of Candidacy

When an individual has raised or spent more than $5,000 on campaign activity or expects to do so, he or she files an FEC Form 2 (Statement of Candidacy) with the FEC.

  1. Start at the Commission’s Home Page: www.fec.gov
  2. On the left side of your screen click on “Campaign Finance Disclosure Portal"
  3. Under Searchable Presentations,Click on” Reports and Statements Image Search
  4. In the search box, type in the name of the candidate and click on “Get Listing”
  5. Find then click on on the link corresponding to the individual's Statement of Candidacy

How to Find Reports Filed on Paper

Committees that have raised or spent, or expect to raise or spend, less than $50,000 in a calendar year are not required to file electronically. Senate candidates file their reports on paper directly to the Secretary of the Senate.

  1. Start at the Commission’s Home Page: www.fec.gov
  2. On the left side of your screen click on “Campaign Finance Disclosure Portal"
  3. Under Searchable Presentations,Click on” Reports and Statements Image Search
  4. In the search box, type in the name of the candidate and click on “Get Listing”
  5. Once you have located the correct individual, click on on the corresponding committee ID hyperlink
  6. Click on on the hyperlink associated with the correct report

How to Find Reports Filed Electronically

  1. Start at the Commission’s Home Page: www.fec.gov
  2. On the left side of your screen click on “Campaign Finance Disclosure Portal"
  3. Under Searchable Presentations, Click on ” Electronic Filing Search
  4. In the “Partial Name of Committee” text box, type in the  partial name of a committee and click on on “Send Query”.
    Additional information may be selected or entered to help narrow down search results
  5. Locate the correct committee, then click on the hyperlink associated with the correct report

How to Find Additional Campaign Finance Data

such as Independent Expenditures (IE), Electioneering Communication, Bundled Contributions Filings and Unofficial Senate Electronic Filings

  1. Start at the Commission’s Home Page: www.fec.gov
  2. On the left side of your screen Hover Over, "Campaign Fianance Disclosure Portal"
  3. Then click on "Other Campaign Finance Data"
  4. Click on the link corresponding to the correct report

How to Find a   Specific Contributor Who has Given  to  a Political Committee

  1. Start at the Commission’s Home Page: www.fec.gov
  2. On the left side of your screen click on “Campaign Finance Disclosure Portal"
  3. Under Searchable Presentations, Click on ” Data Catalog

How to Find How Much a Federal Candidate has Raised or Spent

The summary information presented contains receipt and disbursement data beginning on January 1 preceding the year of the election through the most recently filed report.

  1. Start at the Commission’s Home Page: www.fec.gov
  2. On the left side of your screen click on “Campaign Finance Disclosure Portal"
  3. Under Graphic Presentations, Click "House and Senate Map"
  4. Click on the appropriate state
  5. Using the first dropdown menu, select the correct district
  6. Then using the next dropdown menu, select the correct Candidate

How to Find Specific Receipts and Disbursements for Political Committees

The FEC is in the process of making this data available for the public searches. Currently, members of the press can
call (202) 694-1220  or email the Press Office at press@fec.gov to discuss specific data requests.
