WASHINGTON --The Federal Election Commission will conduct a public hearing beginning at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 17, on proposed rules regarding:
- Proposed changes governing appearances by federal candidates and officeholders at state, district and local party fundraisers. Currently, Commission regulations permit federal candidates and officeholders to speak at such fundraisers “without restriction or regulation.”
- Revising the definition of “agent” to include persons with apparent authority. The current rules define agent as “any person who has actual authority either express or implied.”
- Revising rules that would permit a trade association’s corporate members to use payroll deductions for employee contributions to the trade association’s PAC.
