Attention downloaders!

Filers have reported problems when downloading the FECFile software using AOL’s release Version 7.0 browser and CompuServe’s browser. During the download, the file, setup.exe, is subjected to a compression and decompression process by the browser that can result in the file being corrupted. The downloaded file is smaller in size than the file available on FEC website and will not install properly.

If this occurs, the FEC recommends:

1. Use AOL or CompuServe to connect to the Internet,
2. minimize the AOL or CompuServe browser,
3. open another browser (e.g. Netscape, Explorer, etc.), and
4. download the file again.

This action should remedy the problem, if not please contact the FEC Electronic Filing Office so that a copy of the software can be mailed to you.
