Associate General Counsel for General Law and Advice

The General Law and Advice Division (GLA) provides legal advice to internal clients throughout the Commission. Its Public Finance and Audit Review Team advises the Commission, the Audit Division, the Reports Analysis Division, and the Office of Administrative Review about legal issues that arise in the administration of the public financing program for presidential elections; Title 2 audits for cause; debt settlements; administrative terminations; and administrative fines matters. Its Administrative Law team provides traditional “in-house counsel” services to the entire agency on issues that range from FOIA, the Privacy Act, and other public disclosure of Commission actions, to personnel, labor law and EEO law issues, to fiscal and procurement law issues, among others. In addition, the division administers the Commission’s Ethics in Government Act program.
